Crown bridge prostheses are a method of covering damaged teeth which have a completely bad appearance in terms of aesthetics. Even if the teeth are not damaged, the crown is used to correct the alignment of the teeth and provide uniformity of appearance.

When a tooth is lost for any reason, adjacent teeth that are healthy begin to move into the cavity. Thus, the following problems are observed in people who experience tooth loss:

  • Gum problems,
  • Bone melts due to overturning into the cavity,
  • Aesthetic problems,
  • Imbalances in chewing forces.

We need to repair this type of tooth loss with bridges or implants. Otherwise, problems will arise in your healthy teeth. In the absence of one or more teeth, it may be necessary to make crown bridge prostheses to fill the oral cavity. For this, we reduce the teeth on both sides of the empty region. By placing the bridge body, which is supported by the structures passing over them, we make prosthesis.

In fixed dentures, the teeth must be made of porcelain and ceramic in order to have a natural color appearance. Ceramic and porcelain crowns are produced in the prosthetic dental laboratory. The materials to be used for the crown are gold and its alloys or ceramic. We use crowns prepared with alloys on posterior teeth because they are strong and durable. It is a good alternative as a crown substructure in metal alloys with a strong structure.

What is Crown and Bridge?

Crowns are hats that fit over the damaged tooth and resemble the original tooth in terms of aesthetics, size and shape. Materials used in crown production; plastic (temporary), full ceramic (zirconium), metal-supported porcelain. Crowns of the teeth are fixed on special with adhesive are maintained. Crowns are very comfortable to use.

Situations where we use crowns are as follows:

  • The crown technique is used when the tooth we have root canal treatment needs to be covered.
  • Since the shape and color of the teeth are distorted, a crown is used when veneers are made.
  • When a tooth needs a filling and there is not enough space in the tooth, a crown can be made instead of a filling.
  • Crown bridge prostheses are used to strengthen weak teeth.
  • When the teeth are implanted, the crown technique is used to close the implant.
  • Broken tooth lose k inside crowns made by the method of repair.

We close the gaps created by missing teeth in the mouth of our patients with the bridge process. In the structure of crown bridge prostheses, the bridges consist of the crowns on both sides of the edentulous area and the artificial teeth between the crowns. These artificial teeth form the body of the bridge. Bridges to the hard dentures class enters. They are also supported by natural teeth or implants.

If the teeth on both sides of the missing teeth are good in terms of tissue, it is a better method to have an implant. Compared to the implant bridge, it is both more useful and longer lasting.

Metal Supported Porcelain Crown and Bridge Prosthesis

We make bridges to our patients through the abutment teeth and body on both sides in case of one or more tooth loss. In metal-supported porcelain crown and bridge prostheses, the infrastructure of the porcelain is supported by metal.

With metal-supported porcelain crowns, we restore the appearance of healthy teeth to the decayed or damaged teeth of our patients. For this, we use metal-supported porcelain crowns as a veneer as a fixed prosthesis.

The material under the porcelain veneer includes metal-supported crowns or nickels, metals made of gold. A metal-supported crown on the implant is more preferred. The reason for this is that metals meet the force well as a support. After making the necessary adjustments to the broken teeth of our patients after root canal treatment or teeth with broken large fillings, we consider metal-supported crowns suitable among the crown bridge prosthesis options.

People who use metal-supported porcelain crown and bridge prostheses should pay attention to the following:

  • In order for the prostheses to be long-lasting, it is necessary to pay attention to their cleaning.
  • Our advice to our patients is to brush the gingival margins of the support teeth very well. They should also clean their teeth with dental floss before going to sleep.
  • Under the bridges should be cleaned with interface brushes before going to sleep. Thus, the harmful effects of bacteria in the mouth will be eliminated.
  • It is very important to clean the plaques formed by bacteria, especially in the area where the tooth and gingiva meet.
  • If our patients want to use their crowns for a long time, they should avoid chewing hard food and objects. This prevents the crowns from breaking and being damaged..

Zirconium Crown and Bridge Prosthesis

Features and advantages of zirconium crown and bridge prosthesis:

  • Zirconium substructures are made by processing from blocks, untouched by hand. They fit perfectly with the tooth. They are materials with high resistance.
  • Zirconium crowns are more opaque than e mpress crown material. Using empress for anterior teeth of patients is aesthetically better than using zirconium.
  • Crown bridge prosthetics zirconium out of options crown u h Astaldi to why we prefer our pain, especially made of aesthetically.
  • The light transmittance of zirconium crowns is much better than metal-supported porcelain. Normally, our natural teeth are in structures that transmit light. Therefore, porcelain teeth with zirconium substructure give the closest appearance to the natural tooth.
  • Zirconium crown teeth have an image of vitality and depth.
  • Since the crown consists of zirconium as a substructure, the crown will not have a dark appearance at the gingival level. Because the metal-based crown teeth, the crown at the level of the gingiva, the dark appearance does not look aesthetically pleasing. When cases of gum recession seen in our patients, zirconium crowns black images in the teeth does not occur.
  • In addition, there is no risk of allergy in zirconium crown and bridge prostheses. However, we observe an allergic reaction in some of our patients with metal -based porcelains.
  • The only disadvantage of zirconium crown and bridge prosthesis is that it is more costly.

Implant Supported Crown Bridges

If the oral structures of patients with job loss are suitable, we evaluate fixed prosthesis treatment. Because the most comfortable type of prosthesis used by the patients is the fixed prosthesis. Dental cases have different problems. This is why patients undergoing implant surgery planning varies by case. Implant supported crown bridge prostheses:

  • The number of teeth in the mouth,
  • Whether the amount of bone in the mouth is sufficient or not,
  • The patient’s economic status
  • It is planned according to the age of the patient.

In the absence of a single tooth, we place an implant tooth in the missing place without touching the teeth around this tooth. We prepare a tooth-like porcelain crown on the implant. We can use different materials in a porcelain crown placed on a single implant. The most preferred alternative material in terms of aesthetic appearance is the zirconium-based crown. If we are going to make metal- supported porcelain coating, we use alternative materials such as titanium alloy metal and nickel-free metal.

Free-ended edentulous cases are seen in some of our patients. In other words, there is no tooth behind the cavity of the extracted tooth in these patients. In this case, we make a porcelain bridge over two or more implants depending on the size of the gap. In this method, we do not have to make implants for every missing tooth in the cavity. We make a fixed porcelain bridge that is used by making enough implants and bonding for our patients.

However, some of our patients use the full palate. In such patients, there is not enough bone amount. In addition, our patients expect an economical implant solution from us. In such cases, we place 2-4 implants symmetrically to the patients. With this method, we make precision connected prostheses supported by implants for our patients.

As a result; we attach artificial teeth to our patients that will fulfill the duties of their lost teeth by performing some procedures. These procedures should be done by prosthetists. Experts with experience and knowledge in their work can determine which prosthesis is suitable for the patient because these treatments are personal situations that vary from patient to patient. The most important factor that determines the life of the bridge in the crown bridge prosthesis process is the dentist.
